GAVIN HERNON

With deep roots in the horse racing industry, it was only natural that Gavin would fall in love with Thoroughbreds.
Growing up on his family's stud farm, based in the beautiful Co Cork in the south of Ireland, he gained valuable insights into the world of bloodstock and horse racing. After deciding at age 16 that Training was what he wanted to do and France was where he wanted to do it, he set himself on a determined path to get there.
Having completed a degree in International Commerce with French at University College Dublin, he then embarked on a learning path which took him to the yards of some of the highest regarded trainers in the world. Gavin spent 3 seasons learning from Jim Bolger, 2 seasons with André Fabre and time with Nicholas Clement, a season with Ed Dunlop and a year with Graham Motion, where he got to work with some top class animals such as Teofilo, New Approach, Lush Lashes, Dawn Approach, Intello,New Bay, Flintshire, Romantica, Baltic Baroness, Irish War Cry and Thewayiam.
Gavin commenced training in Chantilly, France in August 2018 and didn't have to wait long for his first winner, sending out his first ever runner ICEFINGER to win the PRIX DES ETALONS SHADWELL at the prestigious Deauville August meeting. He sent out a further 3 winners that year to finish 2018 on a 36% strike rate.

2019 saw Gavin gain 17 winners with 87 places and more than half a million in prize money and French premiums, along with his first group preformer FLIGHTY LADY, a 21,000guineas purchase who progressed impressively throughout the year from winning her maiden the PRIX DE FALAISE during the Deauville August meeting to her final race for Gavin finishing third in the Group 1 PRIX MARCEL BOUSSAC at Longchamp on Arc day before being sold to continue her career under new owner and trainer connections.

2020 saw Gavin build further on his fantastic start with STORM BRINGER winning team Hernon's first Quinte handicap. 2020 also saw Gavin progress further into the realms of black type with his first Group 3 winner NATIONAL SERVICE coming home infront to land the PRIX PAUL DE MOUSSAC LONGINES Gr3 at Chantilly on only his third career start.
